Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSE AUGUSTO DOS SANTOS 1932 - 2005 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Jose Santos, devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother in the early hours of Friday, January 21, 2005. Jose was predeceased by his father Joaquin Dos Santos Barreto and mother Beatriz de Jesus. Jose was born in Estoi, Portugal in 1932. In his early years he was involved in the agricultural industry, then immigrated to Canada in 1955. Jose began a career with G H Steel in Toronto. It was soon after that his beloved wife Celia joined him from Portugal to begin their lives together. That journey took them west and Jose was involved with every major Hydro River Dam Project built throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba. After retiring from G H Steel he was called upon for one more project and helped finish the Revelstoke Dam, retiring again, then residing in Winnipeg. He is survived by his long life partner Celia; sons, Robin, Charles and daughter-in-law Jennifer; grandsons, Matthew, Paul, Devon and Justin; brother Joaquin Barreto and wife Marea; nephews, Jack Barreto and his wife Audrey, Victor Barreto and his wife Ludy; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Funeral mass will be said on Friday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, 3597 Main St., with Msgr. Louis McCloskey as celebrant. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, with reception to follow. Pallbearers will be Charles Santos, Robin Santos, Joaquin Barreto, Jack Barreto, Victor Barretto and Ken Rigey. In lieu of flowers donations in Jose's memory may be made to Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
